And here are some tips to winning an escape room:

– Choose your team wisely, try to determine each player’s strengths, and assign roles and responsibilities accordingly.

– Pick your chosen escape destination based upon your group’s collective interests and skill set.

– Pay close attention to your Game Master…really listen to their words…they could quietly drop a hint or give you a clue at any time.

– Communicate and listen to your teammates. Yell out loudly anything you find and anything you need. Remember, it’s all about teamwork so don’t work in a vacuum.

– Manage your time carefully.  Don’t spend too much time on any one puzzle and be sure to watch the clock…time has a mysterious way of moving faster when you’re racing against it!

– Stay calm. Don’t panic. Don’t give up. If you get stuck, ask for help from a team member or from your Game Master…or just switch to another puzzle.

– Search thoroughly, but remember that although it’s true that clues can be tricky to find…sometimes they’re hiding in plain sight.

– Divide and Conquer. Spread out your efforts. A good escape room will have many clue streams so don’t all focus the same puzzle.

– Stay organized. Remaining focused on the task at hand and keeping track of found clues in a tidy fashion will help you move faster through the game.

– Be mindful of numbers, symbols, patterns, or anything else that might possibly be relevant to the puzzles.

– Don’t break things or force things open. Please, use only gentle force and always respect the rules of the house.
